Lesson 1: Roulette Systems
There are a lot of roulette systems floating around. Because the game is based on simple mathematics many roulette systems are born from playing around with probability and odds. If you actually look at the math yourself you'll find that playing with the numbers doesn't help much, but someone selling a roulette system can sure make it sound good. The fact is that a casino won't usually care if you're using a roulette system. Why? Because they just don't work. Like all casino games, the casino has the advantage in roulette. This is not to say that roulette systems are useless. Find a system that works for and that you enjoy, just don't expect it to work all the time. There are roulette systems that can improve your roulette play, but understand that no system will remove the house edge of 2.70% for the English roulette wheel and 5.26% for the American wheel.
Having said this, here are a couple of roulette systems that can help to optimize your strategy. The following system is for a quick win. Pick seven numbers and bet one unit on each number. If they all lose then bet the numbers again up to a max of three times. If you don't win in three spins then move on. If you do win, distribute the winnings over these same seven numbers. You will now have five units on each number. If you win again then distribute the winnings over the same numbers again. You should now have 35 units on each number. After this bet quit and walk away. The maximum possible loss is 21 units. The maximum possible win is 945 units.
If you'd rather spend some time at the table then you may want to try this slow win roulette system. The roulette table columns have a slight variation that provides the basis for this method. There are three columns on a roulette table each containing twelve numbers, one third of the field not counting zeros. The first column contains 6 Black and 6 Red numbers, the second column contains 4 Red and 8 Black, and the third column contains 4 Black and 8 Red. Betting on either Red or Black is roughly a 50/50 odds bet. First pick to bet on Red or Black. If you bet on Red then also place an equal bet on the second column. If you bet on Black then also place an equal bet on the third column. If only your color comes up you will get an even return on your bet. When only the column hits you will make one unit profit. If both the color and column come up you will make three units profit. Keep this system going until you are ahead. The final bit of advice, quit while you are ahead. This is the only true winning roulette system.
